A World Riddled with The Supernatural
The Journal is a horror game based in a fictional city set in the Philippines. Follow an artistic senior high-school student named Jaslyn who is gifted in perceiving the supernatural. Her open Third Eye enables her to interact with a world elusive to everyone else. With this ability, she has taken it upon herself to protect her home from those who wish to bring it harm.
The game tackles many Filipino mythologies and superstitions. Heavy inspiration is taken from folklore and candid stories everyday people tell where we try to find interesting and unique ways to translate that into compelling gameplay. We keep in mind the intimacy of maneuvering through the world, driving exploration and curiosity into the player and encourage progression in the face of an unknown looming dread in many levels.
Jaslyn records everything in her Journal as a means to keep track about the different types of supernatural beings she encounters. There, she writes her thoughts and most importantly, crucial methods on how to deal with supernatural.
